Students Earn Award

Some Assembly Required

When you see those words on anything the chances of something going wrong are strong – except for seven U-46 students. The students competed in the FIRST Lego League Championship Tournament under the name “Some Assembly Required.”

Students were required to identify a transportation problem in their community and determine a solution. Another part of the competition was to build a robot to carry out a mission. During the four-month season, teams competed in four main areas, Technical Design, Research and Teamwork. The last area is Field Missions which required the robot to complete prescribed tasks and overcome obstacles in two and one half minutes.

The students participated in a Regional Tournament in December and advanced to the State Tournament where they competed against the 64 regional winners.  The students received the Champion’s Award – Third Place for excellence in all four competition categories.

Congratulations to these students, from Tefft,  Nick DelGiudice,  and from Eastview, James Devereux, Alex Fortino, Jack Godlewski, Ann Mikulecky, Ron Mikulecky and Alex Moreno. Apparently “No Assembly Required” is not a problem for them.
