IMEA (Illinois Music Educators Association) promotes and supports music as a vital component in the complete education of every child.  Every year the association’s convention January Conference culminates in an evening concert featuring the state’s top young musicians.

 

Five of those top musicians were U-46 students. These selected student musicians have earned their place among the state’s best by engaging in rigorous competitive auditioning processes to determine District 9 and All-State eligibility and seating. All-State selection represents the pinnacle of musical achievement for high school musicians.

 

At the March 1, 2010 School Board meeting the following students were recognized by the Board for their achievement.

 

Samantha Lazarra: Junior, All State Honors as a Soprano 2

Gina Carlson: Senior, All State Choir as an Alto 2

 

Clee McCracken: Junior, Voice Bass I

Violet Deal: Junior, Viola

 

Katherine Fenton: Senior, Music Educator Award recipient
