Energy Efficiency in U-46
This year U-46 is increasing its efforts to save energy and increase recycling. Employees are being encouraged to conserve electricity. Just by turning off lights when leaving a room and shutting down computers and equipment at the end of the day the district can reduce its energy consumption. The effort has resulted in a use avoidance of 1.08 million kilowatt hours in the schools through November - a 15.9% reduction and almost $97,000 in cost avoidance. (The avoidance is what would have used been used if nothing had changed and the district operated as usual.)
